The Yizkor website presents the life story of Gershon (Gerhard) Kenigsberger (father’s name Erwin/Aharon, mother’s name Rosa), who was born in 1918 in the city of Neu-Stetten, Germany and immigrated to Palestine in 1935.
In the War of Independence, he fought as part of the Jerusalem Brigade and on 15.9.1948 he died in battle during the attempt to break into the Old City. He was initially buried in Sheikh-Badr A. In 1950, his remains were moved to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
Considering the proximity of the dates between the date of his death and the date of the issuance of the management order and the circumstances of his life, it is likely that this is Gershon Gerhard Kenigsberger who appears on the list of the general guardian.
In January 1949, a request to issue an inheritance order to the estate of Gershon Konigsberger was submitted by a man named Yitzhak Hertz. The nature of the relationship between the two is unknown, except for the fact that they shared an occupation – both worked as truck drivers
